Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Divorce

How Much Does A Divorce Cost?

Generally every divorce is priced according to the factors of their case.  Typically I will evaluate whether your divorce involves children, property, or any domestic violence issues.  The biggest factor is whether you and your spouse are in agreement.

Should I Hire A Lawyer

A divorce will likely be the most important legal process of your life.  Depending on your situation it may involve determining important rights to children, property, and your investments. You should never represent yourself in a legal proceeding that likely causes you emotional strain.

What Is An Agreed Divorce?

An agreed divorce is when you and your spouse have an agreement on every issue of your divorce and your agreement satisfies the law.  There are no issues that require negotiating.  All that is necessary are the legal documents and attending a court hearing to put your agreement on the record.

How Long Will It Take to Get A Divorce?

By law in Texas, a divorce must be on file for at least 60 days.   In addition to this requirement, a citation must also be served on your spouse.  Depending on the method of service, you may need additional time.  Most importantly, if there are any issues in dispute, your divorce may take several months.
