FAQ's Regarding Child Support Cases

How Much Does A Child Support Case Cost?

Generally every child support case is priced according to the factors of their case.  Typically I will evaluate whether your child support case involves other child custody issues such as visitation.  The biggest factor is whether you and the other parent are in agreement.

Should I Hire A Lawyer

A child support case will likely be the most important legal process of your life.  Depending on your situation, your case may involve more complex modifications to your order or even possible jail. You should never represent yourself in a legal proceeding that likely causes you emotional strain.

What Is An Agreed Child Support Case?

An agreed child support case is when you and the other parent have an agreement on every issue related to child and medical support.  There are no issues that require negotiating.  All that is necessary are the legal documents and attending a court hearing to put your agreement on the record.

How Long Will A Child Support Case Take in Court?

By law in Texas, every child support case requires service.  The responding party then has 20 days to file an answer in court.   Most importantly, if there are any major issues in dispute such as visitation or parental rights, your child support case may take several months.
